How to Ensure the Normal Operation of Reverse Osmosis Equipment? (Part 1)

Reverse osmosis membrane separation technology (RO technology for short) is a new and practical water treatment technology. For a specific reverse osmosis system, the long-term stability of its performance is indispensable. The success of RO equipment's long-term performance depends on normal operation and maintenance, including the commissioning of the entire system, start-up and shutdown, cleaning and maintenance, and membrane and scale prevention. So, how can we ensure the normal operation of the RO water purification system? What issues should we pay attention to?

One. Turn on for the first time

(1) Before starting the start-up procedure, fully clean the pretreatment part, flush away impurities and other contaminants, and prevent unqualified water from being injected into the membrane element.

(2) When there is water in the original water tank, open the upper inlet valve and the lower outlet valve of the mechanical filter, and turn on the power of the original water pump. At this time, the metering pump automatically adds medicine, and the water enters the mechanical filter from the upper inlet valve, and the lower outlet valve is discharged. After the water is cleared, open the upper inlet valve and the lower outlet valve of the activated carbon filter, the outlet valve of the mechanical filter, and close the lower outlet valve of the mechanical filter. At this time, the water enters the activated carbon filter, and the pollution index of the outlet of the mechanical filter is tested. At the same time, the outlet of the activated carbon filter After cleaning, the RO host opens the concentrated water valve and pure water discharge valve.

(3) Open the water inlet valve of the RO system and close the lower discharge valve of the activated carbon filter to allow low-pressure and low-flow water to flush out the air in the component and the pressure vessel, so that the pressure is 0.2-0.4MPa, and at the same time open the exhaust valve discharge of the security filter Run out of air

(4) During the flushing operation, check all pipeline contacts and valves for leaks;

(5) After a few minutes of flushing, after the air is removed, turn on the high-pressure pump and run at low pressure for a few minutes, then gradually close the return water valve and concentrated water discharge valve to slowly increase the pressure until the ratio of fresh water to concentrated water is close to the design ratio, but Do not exceed, and make the pressure not exceed the upper design limit;

(6) After the operation is stable and the conductivity of the produced water reaches the requirements, open the inlet valve of the pure water tank, close the discharge valve of pure water, and put the qualified produced water into the pure water storage tank.

Two. Regular boot

Once the RO system starts to operate, it should theoretically continue to operate in a stable state. In fact, the RO system needs to be shut down and started frequently. Each start and close cycle involves changes in pressure and flow, so It causes mechanical stress on the membrane element, so minimize the number of opening and closing. At the same time, the normal start-up procedure should be as smooth as possible. In principle, it should be the same as the first start-up procedure. The most important thing is that the inlet pressure rises slowly.
